MGA Play on Saturday and Sundays
A lot questions have been posed by new and as well as existing members on what goes on the weekends with the MGA at Lake Chesdin. I will give it a shot...
First of all, the MGA is about golf and fun. Now, I know those two words are not always used in the same sentence, but you get the idea. No matter whether you are a 3 or 23 HCP, you can play in the MGA on the weekends. The games are built around the fact that everyone's score counts, so you always have an impact on your team's outcome as well as a share of the winnings if you and your team tears it up.
The games are built around A,B,C,& D handicapping, where depending on the amount of players you have on any given weekend, each team will have one of the designated letters/players above. Games are always changing from weekend to weekend so it's fun.
There is also a lot of confusion about the cost of playing in the games on the weekend. The going rate is $15 a game. Winnings are divided up among the winners based on the game that day. There is an additional birdie skins game if you want to get in, which is $5.00 and is optional. So if your not scoring well, just keep your $5 and save it for a cold beverage after the round.
Where do you play from? Your choice blues or blacks.
When? MGA tee times until April 8th will start at 10:30 am on Saturday and Sunday. From April 8th to October 28, MGA tee times will start at 8:30 am on Saturday and Sunday. To make it easy on the pro shop with pairings, please call in by 6:00 pm prior day to get in a game.
This is definitely one case where "the more, the merrier", is par for the course and the clubhouse on the weekends.
See you at the club,
Tim Seaton
