A Letter From Our New President for 2007
Dear Lake Chesdin Golf Members:
The 2007 Golf Season is quickly approaching and I am encouraged and excited about this year’s scheduled tournaments. The Men’s Golf Association (MGA) board looks forward to hosting quality, competitive, and social events. The MGA has set forth goals in 2007 of improving communications, quality of MGA events, and creating an association that encourages new/existing members to participate.
What is the Men’s Golf Association? The MGA was originally created as a way for Members to get together and have a “game” during the week and on the weekend. The MGA was also responsible for organizing and financially contributing to all tournaments throughout the year. As the membership continues to evolve and grow the MGA needs to shift its focus and energy in order to meet the needs of its members. Therefore, the responsibilities of the MGA in 2007 will be to act as the governing board that facilitates, manages, and coordinates four marquee events. The MGA strongly encourages all members to join in on the Friday Group as well as the Saturday/Sunday morning groups. Please contact Tim White (804-590-0031) in the pro shop for more details concerning times and formats. Tim White will also facilitate smaller Saturday/Sunday events that will be communicated at a later date (i.e. Tough Day/Easy Day, Ryder Cup, Super Bowl Scramble, etc…).
The four marquee events in 2007 (please mark your calendar) include a Spring Member-Member (April 21st-22nd), Member-Guest (June 7th-9th), Club Championship (August 25th-26th), and a Fall Member-Member (October 20th-21st). It is our goal to improve all aspects of these valuable golf tournaments. The 2006 Member Guest received fantastic reviews. The MGA board looks to expand upon last year’s event by adding new features for both Members and their Guests in 2007. We do ask in 2007 that all members honor the signup date request as late entries will not be able to participate or be assigned an alternate number and be granted a spot in the tournament on a first come first serve basis.
Communication, quality, and participation will be key elements to a successful 2007. Communication has already improved with an official MGA website http://lakechesdinmga.blogspot.com. As President, I will commit to communicating more effectively by providing a quarterly update letter recapping past month’s events and news. This update letter will be posted on the website, emailed to MGA members, and direct mailed to every Lake Chesdin Golf Member.
Participation is the single most important element for a successful 2007. The MGA dues will remain at $75.00 and are payable to the Lake Chesdin Men’s Golf Association at anytime. Dues can be mailed with attention to Men’s Golf Association or left in the pro shop with the golf staff at your earliest convenience. All dues must be paid in full prior to playing in any of the four MGA sanctioned events. This is a baseline expectation not a request. The board will monitor and collect all dues and allocate funds as we see fit. These dues are crucial in making sure we are able to run a successful tournament schedule. MGA dues typically go towards the social elements of our golf tournaments (i.e. food, drink, entertainment, etc…). Tournament entry fees typically go toward prize money.
I look forward to an exciting 2007 golf tournament schedule. Please feel free to contact any of the board members with questions, concerns, and to update email addresses. Also check the website periodically for announcements and updates. Look for communication relating to the format, entertainment, and sign up dates for the April Member-Member to come in late February.
On behalf of the 2007 MGA Board, I look forward to a great year…
Sincerely,
Thomas Dawson Lesperance Jr.
President - Men’s Golf Association
